Authors on the Air: Soul Survivor; No Angel; Bloggers on the Bus

Compiled by Diane Patrick -- Publishers Weekly, 6/8/2009 12:07:00 PM

Today on Good Morning America, Andrea and Bruce Leininger introduced Soul Survivor: The Reincarnation of a World War II Fighter Pilot (Grand Central Publishing, 978-0446509336, $24.99).

On The Diane Rehm Show, ATF agent Jay Dobyns was No Angel: My Harrowing Undercover Journey to the Inner Circle of the Hells Angels (Crown, 978-0307405852, $25.95; Tantor Media unabridged CD, $37.99), which PW called a “white-knuckler… a bracing story in straightforward prose that doesn't dilute any aspect of the toll his undercover act (a sprawling long-term investigation that penetrated deeper into the gang than any other) took on his life.”

The Bob Edwards Show hosted award winning journalist Eric Boehlert, author of Bloggers on the Bus: How the Internet Changed Politics and the Press (Free Press, 978-1416560104, $26). PW’s starred review called it an “opinionated, impossible to put down narrative, chronicling with cagey insider detail the failures of copycat reporting and the inspired citizen-journalists picking up the slack.”

The Early Show chatted with Bethenny Frankel, star of Bravo's The Real Housewives of New York City and author of Naturally Thin: Unleash Your SkinnyGirl and Free Yourself from a Lifetime of Dieting (Fireside, 978-1416597988, $16).

NPR’s Morning Edition interviewed-eighty-nine-year old Huston Smith, teacher of world religions and author of Tales of Wonder: Adventures Chasing the Divine, an Autobiography (HarperOne, 978-0061154263, $25.99).

This evening on The Daily Show, journalist Gretchen Peters plants Seeds of Terror: How Heroin Is Bankrolling the Taliban and al Qaeda (Thomas Dunne Books, 978-0312379278, $25.95; Tantor Media CD, $29.99). PW wrote “Peters draws on 10 years of reporting from Afghanistan and Pakistan for this important examination of the nexus of [drug] smugglers and extremists in the global war against terrorists. Peters has exhaustively framed one of the thorniest problems facing policy makers in this long war.”

Due to the nature of live programming, scheduling is subject to change.
