Authors on the Air: The Tall Book; Melissa Gilbert; Peter G. Peterson

Compiled by Diane Patrick -- Publishers Weekly, 6/9/2009 2:40:00 PM

This morning on The Early Show, six-foot-three essayist Arianne Cohen handed down The Tall Book: A Celebration of Life from on High (Bloomsbury USA, 978-1596913080, $20), which pubs today. PW’s review had this to say: “Cohen has been frustrated, ever since she was a 5'3” eight-year-old, that no one has written a book about tall people. She fixes that problem handily with a guide both practical and proud, and with enough self-deprecating humor to charm readers of any height; an ideal gift for talls, their loved ones, and (perhaps) their jealous detractors.”

Today talked with actress Melissa Gilbert about her new memoir Prairie Tale (Simon Spotlight Entertainment, 978-1416599142, $26).

On Good Morning America: bestseller Peter G. Peterson, whose latest is The Education of an American Dreamer: How a Son of Greek Immigrants Learned His Way from a Nebraska Diner to Washington, Wall Street, and Beyond (Twelve, 978-0446556033, $34.99). Tomorrow, he’ll be on The Diane Rehm Show

This evening, The Daily Show meets with investment advisor Peter Schiff, author of The Little Book of Bull Moves in Bear Markets: How to Keep Your Portfolio Up When the Market is Down (Wiley, 978-0470383780, $19.95; Your Coach in a Box unabridged CD, $29.98).

On The Diane Rehm Show, journalist Steve Luxenberg conjured up Annie's Ghosts: A Journey Into a Family Secret (Hyperion, 978-1401322472, $24.99).

The Morning Show with Mike & Juliet chatted with Today show correspondent Jill Rappaport, whose children’s book is Jack & Jill: The Miracle Dog with a Happy Tail to Tell (Collins, 978-0061731365, $17.99).

Tonight, Tavis Smiley talks with former chair of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights Mary Frances Berry, author of And Justice for All: The United States Commission on Civil Rights and the Continuing Struggle for Freedom in America (Knopf, 978-0307263209, $30).

Due to the nature of live programming, scheduling is subject to change.
