Sourcebooks Adds to New York, Connecticut Offices

By Claire Kirch -- Publishers Weekly, 6/10/2009 7:59:00 AM

Sourcebooks, the independent publisher headquartered in Naperville, Ill., is expanding its satellite offices in New York and Connecticut with some new hires in both locations. The company has added three new people in New York, bringing the total number of employees there to four, with another hire in children’s marketing still in the works; Rebecca Frazer, who has acquired and edited children’s books for HarperCollins, S&S, and Random House, has been hired as acquisitions editor for the publisher’s Jabberwocky children’s book imprint. April Sirianni, who most recently promoted lifestyle, health, fashion, and parenting titles for HarperCollins, has been hired as senior publicist, and Aubrey Poole, who has a background in copy-editing, administration, and book marketing, has been hired as editorial assistant.

In Sourcebooks’s Connecticut office, Jody Novins, who managed the green room in the BEA autographing area for several years, has been hired as editorial administrative assistant, bringing the total number of employees there to two full-time and one part-time.

“Our backbone [mass market and trade fiction and nonfiction] is solid, but growth in the past six months to a year has been in children’s, romance and fiction,” Sourcebooks v-p and editorial director Todd Stocke said. “Our new hires reflect our growth in those areas.”

A total of 75 people are currently employed by Sourcebooks across its three offices.
