The PW Morning Report: Wednesday, June 17, 2009

By Craig Morgan Teicher -- Publishers Weekly, 6/16/2009 6:20:00 AM

A daily roundup of book and publishing news from across the Web: Librarians vs. Google; A Pair of Wallace Bios; The Times on Salinger; Teen Books to Burn?

Librarians vs. Google
Librarians are not being quiet about the problems with the Google settlement.

A Pair of Foster Wallace Bios for Sale
Proposals for two biographies of the late author hit the market earlier this month, by D.T Max (which sold to Viking) and David Lipsky (unsold so far), both of whom wrote major magazine pieces about the author following his suicide.

The Times on Salinger
A thorough look at Salinger’s lawsuit against a copycat writer.

Teen Books to Burn?
A Christian group in Wisconsin seeks to burn library copies of Francesca Lia Block’s Baby Be-Bop, which was recommended by the library as a good book dealing with “gay and lesbian issues.”

If you'd like to pitch an item for possible inclusion in the Morning Report, email Craig Teicher.
