Authors on the Air: An Accidental Guide to Fatherhood; Rick Steves; Championship Fathering

Compiled by Diane Patrick -- Publishers Weekly, 6/19/2009 8:43:00 AM

Today, The Bob Edwards Show marked the upcoming Father’s Day weekend by chatting with bestselling writer Michael Lewis, author of Home Game: An Accidental Guide to Fatherhood (W.W. Norton, 978-0393069013, $23.95; Brilliance Audio unabridged CD, $24.99). PW wrote “Although Lewis is correct that his fatherhood moments might be more interesting to him than to anyone else, his reflections capture both the unease and the excitement that fatherhood brings.”

This evening on NBC’s Dateline: Kevin Weeks, author of Brutal: The Untold Story of My Life Inside Whitey Bulger's Irish Mob (Harper, 978-0061148064, $15.95).

Tonight, Tavis Smiley talks with America’s favorite travel guide Rick Steves, whose new book is Travel as a Political Act (Nation Books, 978-1568584355, $16.95).

Last night, Charlie Rose interviewed Quinn Bradlee (son of journalist Ben Bradlee and bestselling author Sally Quinn), author of A Different Life: Growing Up Learning Disabled and Other Adventures (PublicAffairs, 978-1586481896, $24.95).

Tomorrow on NPR’s Weekend Edition, Peter Carlson, former writer for the Washington Post, discusses K Blows Top: A Cold War Comic Interlude Starring Nikita Khrushchev, America's Most Unlikely Tourist (PublicAffairs, 978-1586484972, $26.95; Blackstone Audio unabridged CD, $24.95). PW wrote “Although Carlson's focuses on the comic, there are insights into Khrushchev's personality, many provided by his son Sergei, now a respected professor at Brown University, illuminating the method in Khrushchev's madness. All in all, in Carson's hands the cold war is a surprisingly laughing matter.”

On Sunday, Hour of Power celebrates Father’s Day with Carey Casey, CEO of the National Center for Fathering and author of Championship Fathering: How to Win at Being a Dad (Tyndale/Focus on the Family, 978-1589975347, $13.99).

Due to the nature of live programming, scheduling is subject to change.
