This morning, the Today show hosted Dick Morris and Eileen McGann, whose Catastrophe (Harper, 978-0061771040, $26.99; HarperAudio CD, $29.99) pubs today. 

Authors on today’s Leonard Lopate Show: 

  • Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, whose memoir Magnificent Desolation: The Long Journey Home from the Moon (Harmony, 978-0307463456, $27; RH Audio CD, $35) comes out today. 
  • Public radio personality Dean Olsher, whose From Square One: A Meditation, with Digressions, on Crosswords (Scribner, 978-0743287623, $24) also pubs today. 
  • Journalist and photographer Lisa Hamilton, author of Deeply Rooted: Unconventional Farmers in the Age of Agribusiness (Counterpoint, 978-1593761806, $25). PW wrote “The book vividly shows how these stubborn individualists rooted in the soil struggle are forging a path away from monolithic agribusiness to sustainable agriculture for its promise of spiritual integrity, community and food security.” 

The Diane Rehm Show met with Sally Jenkins and John Stauffer, whose The State of Jones (Doubleday, 978-0385525930, $27.50) is just out today. 

On The Bob Edwards Show, journalist David Helvarg discussed Rescue Warriors: The U.S. Coast Guard, America's Forgotten Heroes (Thomas Dunne Books, 978-0312363727, $25.95). 

The Morning Show with Mike & Juliet hosted Dr. Ian Kerner and Heidi Raykeil, authors of Love in the Time of Colic: The New Parents' Guide to Getting It On Again (Collins Living, 978-0061465123, $16.99). 

Authors on this evening’s Colbert Report: 

  • Howard Dean, physician and former DNC chairman, whose Howard Dean’s Prescription for Real Healthcare Reform: How We Can Achieve Affordable Medical Care for Every American and Make Our Jobs Safer (Chelsea Green, 978-1603582285, $12.95) pubs next month. 
  • David Kilcullen, adviser on counterinsurgency to General Petraeus and author of The Accidental Guerrilla: Fighting Small Wars in the Midst of a Big One (Oxford Univ. Press, 978-0195368345, $27.95). PW starred its review, saying: “Kilcullen's compelling argument merits wide attention.” 

Tonight on The Late Show with David Letterman, former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor ruled on her children’s book Finding Susie (Knopf Books for Young Readers, 978-0375841033, $16.99), which pubs today. It’s based on her own and her siblings’ childhood experiences with the indigenous animals that surrounded their desert ranch home. Tomorrow, she’ll appear on Today. 

The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson chats with James Frey, whose Bright Shiny Morning (Harper Perennial, 978-0061573170, $15.99; HarperAudio CD, $44.95) is recently out in paperback.
