Zondervan hired Jason Vines as v-p of public relations and communications. Vines will direct internal and external communications for Zondervan and each of its divisions, manage product publicity and lead brand development for Zondervan and its top authors. Vines spent almost 20 years in top communications roles in the auto industry. Zondervan has also hired Jon Nisper as vice president of digital and emerging technology. Nisper comes from X-Rite, a global specialist in color science and technology. Earlier, Zondervan announced the hiring of online technology veteran Joseph Park as president of Bible Gateway, the online portal for Bible reference that Zondervan acquired last year; William Mounce, an expert in biblical Greek, was also hired as v-p of educational development at Bible Gateway.
Brennan Manning was named author of the year and Tyndale House Publishers vendor of the year by the Association of Logos Bookstores, a member-owned trade association serving independent Christian bookstores.
IBS-STL has adopted the new name Biblicafor its operations, which include STL Distribution and the imprints Authentic and Paternoster Books.
Thomas Nelson Publishers and Standard Publishing have agreed to partner, offering select Nelson titles to Standard’s audience. The Cincinnati-based Standard provides a wide variety of church resources.
Clarification: A previously announced agreement, as reported in Religion BookLine June 22 http://www.publishersweekly.com/article/CA6666660.html, between Nelson and NavPress has been clarified; NavPress said it “prematurely” reported an agreement between the two for Nelson to sell The Navigator Reference Library. The two are still negotiating.
