Author M.T. Anderson recently finished a two-week tour in support of his latest book, Jasper Dash and the Flame-Pits of Delaware (S&S/Beach Lane, Sept.), the third title in his Pals in Peril series. Jasper Dash, however, is the first to be published with Simon & Schuster (the book's predecessors, Whales on Stilts and The Clue of the Linoleum Lederhosen, were originally published by Harcourt under the series name M.T. Anderson's Thrilling Tales). S&S will re-release the first two books in both hardcover and paperback in May 2010, and a fourth Pals in Peril title is due next fall.

Anderson's tour began in northern California, with stops at Books Inc., Hicklebee's and Copperfield's, and most recently he was seen at the Midwest Booksellers Association show in St. Paul, where he was a speaker at the author breakfast. But amid stops at the Brooklyn Book Festival and at bookstores around Baltimore and Washington, D.C., Anderson made one especially appropriate visit, given the title of his book: to the first state in the union, Delaware.

Anderson spoke with fans of all ages while in Delaware, first visiting Henry M. Brader Elementary School in the city of Newark.

At the elementary school Anderson read from Jasper Dash to a large group of students...

...and then signed copies of the book for young fans.

Later, Anderson visited the University of Delaware, also in Newark....

... and signed copies of his book for university students and librarians.

Younger fans also showed up, such as Sebastian Roat, seen here with the author. Additionally, Anderson was presented with a humorous letter from Delaware governor Jack Markell, which notes some of the creative license Anderson takes with the state of Delaware in his book.
