U.K. Publishers Association Supports New Google Settlement
The Publishers Association in the U.K. has filed a letter of support with the New York district court in favor of the revised Google Books settlement. From the Bookseller.

Open Book Alliance Slams New Google Settlement
The OBA, a coalition of libraries, literacy organizations and booksellers, expresses anything but support for the revised settlement, saying Google has performed a “sleight-of-hand.” From www.openbookalliance.org.

Pooh Goes Back to Court
The estate of the producer who acquired the rights to Pooh and gang from A.A. Milne in 1930 and who has been suing Disney since 1991 is going back to court after a September ruling in Disney’s favor was thought to have settle the issue. From the New York Times.

Shortcovers and Smashwords Team Up
The two e-book companies are teaming up in an international distribution deal. From VentureBeat.

Library Books Returned 51 Years After Due Date
An ultimately responsible anonymous library patron returned two books that were due back in 1958 to a high-school library, along with a $1000 money order. From UPI.
