Follett Adds E-books

Edward Nawotka -- Publishers Weekly, 4/9/2001

Follett's online textbook store efollett.com has joined B&N.com and Amazon.com in adding e-books to its product mix. The eFollett e-book store launched March 27 with 400 titles available for download in Microsoft Reader format. Overdrive of Cleveland, Ohio, is providing digital rights management and fulfillment.

Shelly Bush, project manager for the eFollett e-bookstore, told PW, "Our intended audience is our campus customers. This is a positioning time for e-books, and it's a market that's going to take time to grow. We're developing marketing plans for a back-to-school push." Initially, only general trade e-books are available, though Bush said Follett also plans to work with academic and textbook publishers to bring course-specific content online.
