CDS Adds Virgin Publishing

Staff -- Publishers Weekly, 4/9/2001

Client Distribution Services has signed one of its largest publishers to date with an agreement to distribute most of U.K.-based Virgin Publishing's titles in the U.S. CDS has already assumed distribution of Virgin's erotica and backlist titles, and beginning in September the company will take over distribution for all of Virgin's titles with the exception of its travel line, which will continue to be sold through Globe Pequot Press. Virgin, which had been distributed by London Bridge, has a backlist of about 250 titles and publishes approximately 75 new titles annually.

In addition to its erotic line, sold under the Nexus and Black Lace imprints, Virgin publishes books in the areas of popular music, business, contemporary culture, sports, biography and reference. In September, Virgin will launch a new business book series in conjunction with the Warwick business school.
