Short Takes

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 5/7/2001

Good news for golfers: bestselling author John Feinstein, whose latest, The Last Amateurs, ventured into basketball, will be back on the course for his next, which Esther Newberg at ICM has just sold, for seven figures, U.S. and Canada, to Michael Pietsch at Little, Brown, for publication probably two years hence... Melody Guy at Villard's Strivers Row bought a book called Morning by Morning: The Education of Three Black Men, from Our Living Room to the Ivy League by Charles Nabrit and his wife, Paula Penn Nabrit, about how they educated their boys at home to avoid school racism, and got them all into top colleges. Agent Brian DeFiore made the North American rights sale.
