Staff -- Publishers Weekly, 5/21/2001

Technology's impact on all aspects of the book business will be the featured topic of BookExpo America's educational conference program at this year's fair. BEA officials have declared Thursday, May 31, ePub Expo Day and have scheduled a full slate of sessions to cover the various ways technology is affecting the publishing, distribution and selling of books. Among the panels are "The Twenty-First Century Publisher: How to Profit in the Combined Print and Electronic World," "Igniting the eBook Consumer Market," "The Erosion of Rights in the Age of Digital Distribution" and one session each for booksellers and for publishers on how to incorporate bricks-and-clicks into their respective business models.

Panels set for Friday and Saturday include "How a Book Is Made," "How to Create and Market a Mega-Bestseller" and "Trends in the Children's Christian Marketplace."
