Shop's Tops

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 3/5/2001

In order to turn shopaholics into book buyers for its trade paperback Confessions of a Shopaholic, by British writer and uber-shopper Sophie Kinsella, Dell set the price at $10.95, or as the house describes it, "affordable." Special giveaways at malls and promotions aimed at young women on www.dailycandy.com were also part of the marketing effort. Sales are brisk, and the book has already gone back to press twice, bringing the total in print to 85,000 books.
