More Oprah Clout

It's not just the book club picks that soar on the charts after being touched by Oprah. The new #2 trade paper bestseller this week (sandwiched between two Oprah club selections) is Ordinary People, Extraordinary Wealth: The 8 Secrets of How 5000 Ordinary Americans Became Successful Investors—And How You Can Too by financial planner Ric Edelman. According to publisher HarperCollins, less than 24 hours after the author was the main event on Oprah's February 28 show, the book shot to #1 on Amazon.com. The bestseller, published in January, has just about 400,000 copies in print after 11 trips to press.
