An Answered Prayer

Multnomah's mega-hit The Prayer of Jabez by Bruce J. Wilkinson continues to break sales records. It leads PW's hardcover religion list and moves up to #5 on our general weekly charts. The book marks its first anniversary in April. Plans are in the works to widen the distribution for the Spanish-language version published last month. Spanish House's first printing was 10,000 copies, and it has already gone back for an additional 10,000. With sales last year of about 590,000, The Prayer of Jabez ranks #11 on the 2000 hardcover nonfiction list (for all 2000 bestsellers, check out next week's Facts & Figures feature package). The book finished the year 2000 with 850,000 copies in print, and back-to-press activity in the last two months brought the total to four million. At this rate, the book may have a shot at the #1 spot on our 2001 annual list.
