Borders Hires New Sales Senior V-P

Michael Spinozzi has been named to the new position of senior v-p, sales and marketing, for Borders Inc. He has worked at Jewel-Osco, a food and drug retail division of Albertson's, for 19 years, most recently as senior v-p, marketing and merchandising. At Borders, Spinozzi will be reunited with Borders's president and CEO Greg Josefowicz, who had been president of Jewel-Osco.
In his most recent position at Jewel-Osco, Spinozzi was responsible for customer loyalty programs, marketing database development, advertising and implementing category management. Earlier this year, Borders began a category management program. Tami Heim, president of Borders stores and Borders.com, called the appointment "a key part of an intensified sales and marketing focus at Borders, designed to strengthen brand awareness, increase customer traffic and drive sales."
