Lower Risk: A New Investing Trend?
PW Rights Alert Staff -- Publishers Weekly, 5/11/2001
The day of books that showed you how to double the worth of your stocks
overnight may be done, and perhaps a book just sold at pre-empt, for a
solid six figures, to Suzanne Oaks at Broadway may herald a new look in
investment advice.
It's called "Radically Safer Investing," and in it two former Treasury
Department officials, Greg Baer and Gary Gensler, point a finger at the
mutual fund industry in particular as one that fosters undue optimism. The
pair, who also have extensive Wall Street experience, name names of funds
to avoid and also, looking on the positive side, offer safer alternatives
to scared investors.
Oaks's bid beat out seven other interested publishers, in the sale
conducted by Daniel Greenberg at James Levine Communications.
