SMP Jumps on Hollywood Murder

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 5/28/2001

St. Martin's Press, in the person of executive editor Charles Spicer, plans to rush out an instant book on the baffling murder of Hollywood actor Robert Blake's wife, Bonny Lee Bakley. The author is veteran true-crime writer Gary C. King, whose last book, The Texas Seven, was about the sensational jailbreak. The sale of U.S. and Canadian rights was made by Peter Miller of PMA Literary & Film Management. Bakley was murdered as she waited for her husband outside a Hollywood restaurant, and so far the mystery has baffled the local police, although many strange details of the couple's life together have emerged in press accounts.
