This 'Cold' Is Hot

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 6/4/2001

Published by Knopf on May 15 (first printing: 100,000), The Cold Six Thousand is James Ellroy's first novel since American Tabloid and his first book since the release of the 1997 hit movie based on his novel, L.A. Confidential. Set in the 1960s, the new one tells the story of a Las Vegas cop who arrives in Dallas and is immediately plunged into the conspiracy surrounding JFK's assassination. The author, who's in the midst of a 25-city tour, has been—or will soon be—profiled on 60 Minutes II, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and CBS Sunday Morning. Print coverage to date includes Time, US Weekly and a number of major daily newspapers.

With reporting by Dick Donahue.
