Bookspan Adds Staff

Bookspan has made some staff additions and promotions. John Vlachos was named senior v-p and chief financial officer. He was with Time Inc., co-owner of Bookspan, since 1996, most recently as director of finance, mergers and acquisitions. Kevin Goldman, formerly v-p, communications, at Priceline WebHouse Club Inc. and Walker Digital, was appointed v-p, corporate communications, for the book club company.
On the editorial side, Carolina Conde was named editor of the Hispanic Book Club, which will be launched this September. Most recently, she was managing editor of Scholastic's Club de Lectura, a bilingual book club targeted to Hispanic children, their parents and teachers. Carol Mackey, senior copywriter for Black Expressions Book Club, was hired as editor, Black Expressions.
At Quality Paperback Book Club, David Roth-Ey was promoted from editor to editor-in-chief. David Rosen, most recently v-p and editor-in-chief of QPB, will move to full-time editor-in-chief of InsightOutBooks, the gay and lesbian book club, as it transitions into a monthly catalogue/Web hybrid club that uses both direct mail and e-mail updates to deliver information to its members.
