Borders's Quinnell to Retire in January

Ed Nawotka -- Publishers Weekly, 6/11/2001

Borders Group vice-chairman Bruce Quinnell has announced he will retire in January 2002, making him the second top executive at Borders Group to announce his retirement in the past three months. In late March, Borders Group chairman Robert DiRomualdo announced that he will step down at the end of the year and be replaced by Borders president and CEO Greg Josefowicz.

As vice-chairman, Quinnell is responsible for Borders's IT, finance, real estate development and legal departments. Quinnell had served as president of Waldenbooks from 1994 to 1997, where he helped oversee the merger with Borders Group. In 1997 he was promoted to president and COO of Borders Group and named vice-chairman in 1999.
