Colombian in Three-Book Deal

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 6/18/2001

It's not often that writers from other languages make multibook deals, especially with two imprints for different languages, but that's what agent Thomas Colchie has managed for Colombian activist/author Laura Restrepo. He sold two novels, including The Dark Bride, a major bestseller in her native land, and a nonfiction book about her efforts to bring peace with Colombian guerrillas, to Dan Halpern at Harper's Ecco imprint, for world English rights, and to the house's new Rayo imprint for North American Spanish-language.
