HC Ups Free Freight Minimum

Beginning July 1, HarperCollins will implement a few changes in its terms of sale. The most significant change is the increase in HC's minimum order for accounts to receive free freight from $200 to $350. Glenn D'Agnes, chief operating officer for HC, said the company had not raised its minimum order requirement since the publisher instituted free freight in 1990. He noted that with the expansion of HC, especially since the acquisition of Morrow and Avon, accounts now have a wide number of titles from which they can choose to reach the $350 level.
In a second change, orders worth less than $100 at retail will receive a 35% discount, down from 45%. Elsewhere at HC, a company spokesperson said that beginning next year, books that had been published under the Cliff Street Books imprint will be absorbed by other HC units. Diane Reverand, founder and publisher of Cliff Street, is leaving the company at the end of June.
