Look Who's Crowing

That would be Bantam Books and sister company Delacorte Press—both placed new books on the charts this week. Landing in the fifth spot this week is Elizabeth George's 11th mystery, A Traitor to Memory, with a first printing of 175,000 copies. PW gave it a starred review, calling the author the "doyenne of English mystery novelists." Bantam notes that George will do California book signings. Fans will be happy to know that PBS Mystery! will air the BBC production of her first Thomas Lynley and Barbara Havers case, A Great Delivery (1988), sometime next year; that book won both the Anthony and Agatha awards for best first novel.
After seven successful and well-reviewed mysteries featuring sports agent/sleuth Myron Bolitar, Harlan Coben has his biggest hit with Tell No One, his first stand-alone thriller. Reviews were the best in his career and two trips to press so far add up to 70,000 copies in print. He just finished a 10-city publicity tour and is back in New Jersey, where he and his wife are awaiting the birth of their fourth child. And, yes, he is finishing up another thriller, to be published next summer.
