Robert H. Salomon, former executive v-p of Carol Publishing, died in his sleep on May 1. Salomon began his publishing career as assistant to Lyle Stuart, who was then business manager of Mad magazine. When Stuart left Mad to start the publishing company Lyle Stuart Inc., Salomon joined him. The two worked together from 1958 until Stuart sold the company in 1989.
