And So It Begins

May 28, 2009 We've arrived in the Big City! Off -- a little later than anticipated -- to the Day of Education. Looking forward to learning about book clubs, Thought Leadership (it sounds so intriguing and beneficial) and lots more. One of the things I like about the Day of Education is it's more relaxed than when the show floor is open. Today is about reconnecting with friends who I only see once a year and focusing on learning how to be a better bookstore. Once that show floor opens it's a no-holds barred race to see as much as possible while trying to go as many events as possible. Today's somewhat leisurely pace is to be savored before the real chaos begins.

And forget to visit the ABC Not-a-Dinner and (Mostly) Silent Auction preview site so you'll know what you want to bid on.

I envy your head start. I plunge into my first BEA as an author on Saturday when the madness will be in full swing. I'm in for a sensory mugging.

I wish I was going to the dinner/auction. Probably better I'm not. I'd be outbid & be even sadder not to own a few items.
