LitNotes: Mercury Retrograde
February 8, 2008
Plagiarism Speaks All Languages: It's not just a so-2007, so-American trend; plagiarism happens everywhere, alas. It seems Spanish Nobel Prize-winning novelist Camilo Jose Cela may have lifted passages for his book
The Cross of Saint Andrew from a book by Carmen Formosa titled
Carmen, Carmela, Carmina. Cela died in 2002, so we may never know the full story.
Another Book Review Editor, Gone: Is Frank Wilson leaving of his own accord, or being pushed out?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Like Scott McLemee, I'm troubled to hear this. Frank, you don't know me, but if you email me (thereadingwriter at gmail dot com) your version of events, I promise not to tell unless you give me permission to do so. I hope what comes next for you will be great.
All of the Info, None of the Pleasure: From
this TLS review, it sounds as if Routledge's
Encyclopedia of Erotic Literature induces more sleep than lust. Robert Irwin writes: "I...finished my reading of these two volumes with the feeling that sex was a lot less fun than I had hitherto supposed."
