Book Expo America 2008: Floorwalking Update
May 31, 2008
I wish I could give you pictures; I swear all of these technical difficulties I'm having will be resolved soon. The video starts tomorrow. I'm heading down to the show floor soon to talk to Susan Orlean about her first children's picture book,
Lazy Little Loafers. The mood here in LA is, as my colleague Lynn Andriani notes, mellow. I attribute that not to La-La Land sunshine (though it helps), but to the fact that one can actually make a restroom stop without waiting in line and get food without feeling like a starving person lost in the desert. It's really a pleasure to be in a convention center that's modern, clean, and spacious. It makes a difference.
I have a ton of updates to do, but I also have to walk a ways to get to the Abrams booth. I'll be back later this afternoon, though, before tonight's parties (Michael Connelly, Harlequin, and The Orpheum Theater to see Sara Nelson introduce Lewis Black.)
