LitKnits: Karin Slaughter, You Slay Me...
June 22, 2007

Once I saw the contest in Karin Slaughter's latest e-newsletter, I had to create a new blog category for it. After all, there are plenty of connections between literature and knitting, not least of which is that I could win a prize for Grand Champion Lapsed Knitter: one sweater remains unfinished after 15 years...

But I digress. Regular readers will know that I don't cover lots of thrillers (because these folks do it so much better). However, when I do read thrillers, I want only the best -- and Ms. Slaughter fits the bill. Her books are amazing.

Her contest is a wee bit on the wild side for some knitters, but the concept just... killed me. Take a look and tell me what you think.

I love Karin Slaughter, and of course I love you, Book Maven--but two typos in this short entry? For shame! Seriously, though, keep up the good work. I always enjoy your blog and look forward to your recommendations.

I *am* ashamed...my laptop keyboard is cranky and a lot of my keys are sticking. That's no excuse for not proofreading, however... Thanks for the kind words, Ignatius..

I think you're on to something. In October, the wildy popular blogger Laurie "Crazy Aunt Purl" (www.crazyauntpurl.com) will come out with her lit/knit book, "Crazy Aunt Purl's Drunk, Divorced and Covered in Cat Hair: The True-Life Misadventures of a 30-Something Who Learned to Knit After He Split" - watch for it! A lot of wit, lit, and a smidge of knit...
