Page-Burner: Ding Ding Ding!
September 4, 2008

Jean Lewis won this installment of "Page-Burner" by guessing correctly that I've been up late turning the pages of Jen Lancaster's Such a Pretty Fat: One Narcissist's Quest To Discover if Her Life Makes Her Ass LookBig, Or Why Pie is Not The Answer.

(As usual, the other books mentioned are all in my stack, too; however, if you do choose to read Child 44, please take my advice and do so on a sunny day when you haven't a care in the world. The first chapter alone will haunt you for weeks.)

In many ways, Jen Lancaster and I couldn't be more different. First of all, she's a sorority girl, and that world? It's all Greek to me, hahahaha. Second, we live on opposite sides of the political fence (guess which side a former sorority girl would choose? Here's a clue: what's the difference between Jen Lancaster and her own pit bull? Lipstick, specifically Bobbi Brown Plumberry.) Third, Jen is childless by choice, and I live smack in the middle of Momdom (hey, "Mom Dom" would be a great blog name for...oh, never mind...).

However, Jen and I are soul sisters in other ways: we favor the same two shades of OPI polish for our pedicures, we both love the corn-chip-smelly paws of our dogs, and we are both long-married to our best friends. I doubt I could ever make Jen laugh in person the way she has made me laugh from the printed page, but I'd have a great time trying if we ever meet.

Jean Lewis, please send my your snailmail addy: thebookmaven at gmail dot com (NB: For anyone who previously used my thereadingwriter address, thebookmaven is the best one to reach me at, now. Thanks!).
