Hail and Farewell

Maven Mini II

That's my Mini Cooper over there, getting ready to zip off to my next adventure. Mr. Bethanne gave me the "BK MAVEN" license plates for my birthday a couple of years ago, so the Mini Mavens ride in a...Maven's Mini. (Groan. I couldn't resist...)

After 18 months as a blogger for Publishers Weekly, I am taking on a new and different challenge. I'll be moderating Barnes & Noble.com's wonderful Center Stage Book Club, starting next week with author Gregory Maguire. Since interviewing authors is probably my favorite thing to do aside from reading and writing, I feel pretty fortunate. I hope lots of you will join us over there from time to time.

Readers, authors, and publicists, take note: I'll also still be hosting and running WETA.org's "Author, Author!" site -- and there will be a lot of wonderful changes to come there in 2009. Remember, I also do book giveaways on "Author, Author!" and I'm doing lots of different kinds of interviews there: in-studio video, handheld video, straight text, and (soon) audio, too.

In case you like your Book Maven straight up and unfiltered, I'll be blogging and reviewing books at Still Life with Book Maven. My email contact link is there, but in case you'd like to reach out immediately and directly, you will always be able to reach me via thebookmaven at gmail dot com.

ADDED: Where are my manners? I was in such shock on Friday at having to write a final post that I neglected to say thank you to everyone who made this blog possible. I hope you will all accept my apologies and my thanks now. First, thank you to Sara Nelson and everyone else at Publishers Weekly who make these blogs run, especially Dan Blank and Robin Lenz. Second, a huge thanks to each and every reader of The Book Maven Blog; you have all been terrific and I've loved your comments (but lurking is fine, too!). Finally, thanks to my friends and family who have supported me through months of daily deadlines, especially the dear Mini Mavens and the every-patient and darling Mr. Bethanne.

Thanks, all -- I'll miss being in PW Daily, too! But I'm already up and blogging today in both new places, so glad that people will be reading those, too.

Bethanne,

I'd love to send you a copy of NIGHT RUNNER by Max Turner for review on your blog. It's fab new novel--geared for teen boys but girls are loving it too. We've got great quotes and good enthusiasm--I think we're really sitting on something here--but I'd rather just send you a copy to read than overwhelm you with details in this little post. If you're interested, email me at sarah.goldstein@stmartins.com . Best! Sarah Goldstein, Marketing Coordinator, St. Martin's Press
