You Know What I Like? Puppies.

May 29, 2007

I do. Really.

You know what I don't like? Everything that isn't a puppy. Except Angry Martin. I'm on an Angry Martin bender. Goal is the complete ouevre before July 4, and, for the first time ever, it's looking like I'm going to succeed. (Other goals include drinking less, being nicer, drinking less and being nicer.)

Problem at this point is Yellow Dog. I haven't read Yellow Dog. Every time I pick it up, Tibor Fischer's Telegraph take-down comes to mind, and then I put the book down. (For those of you who don't feel like reading the whole piece, here's the money shot: "It's like your favourite uncle being caught in a school playground, masturbating.") So, after work, I'll head down to one of those evil chain book retailers to spend real money (!!!) on either Dead Babies or The Rachel Papers. Unless I happen by a bar-slash-puppy store, in which case I'll drink too much and take home a puppy.

Anyway, BEA is nearly upon us. So, see you there. (I had another graf--a germane one, even--involving a burn victim and a puke-splattered Port Authority bathroom stall, but, you know, didn't think it would fly and I'm 24 minutes late in getting this up, so there you go.)

Jonathan,

A shameless plug (because I am affiliated with the book). Perhaps you could be assuaged with a wonderful picture book of dogs that live at wineries? Wine Dogs (www.winedogs.com) is a great pictorial journey with tidbits on each fabulous canine, though not much (besides the name) on the winery. I prefer to drop by the tasting room: taste wine, greet the dog, review their picture and stats. All my vices in one.

Cheers,
ML

I assume you've discovered the nicest site on the Web: www.dailypuppy.com
