This, that and the other thing
September 21, 2007

Normally on Fridays I do Your Turn where I say what I've read for the week and then let you all tell me what's held your interest (or not) during the week.  But since I've already done that earlier, I thought I'd still let you get your two cents in, while I mention some other things going on.  So feel free to list your reads in the comments.

I tend to get a lot of emails letting me know what's going on and I really appreciate it, because I can't believe how much I miss (story of my life...a day late and a dollar short).  So, I thought I share some news, notes and high fives for those of you, like me, who need to know everything about anything.  But, keep in mind, if it gets to be too much, I'll get in as much as I can...no promises.  I especially lean toward the "short and sweet" approach.

First, a high five to author
Karen Rose who sent me an email at 1:41 am to let me know that Die For Me is now  a New York Times bestseller!!  (of course, I was still on the computer at that time, so I could congratulate her right away).   I met Karen on the Authors at Sea cruise and she offered the most amazing classes in sign language (with the assistance of her delightful husband).  It was SRO.

Next, a high five to
Dorchester Publishing for receiving the Publisher of the Year Award from the NYC chapter of RWA.  Dorchester also published Savage Skies, the 100th romance novel of author Cassie Edwards, which is currently on the New York Times bestseller list for the week of September 23. (so a separate high five for Cassie...100, wow...I almost feel like Al Roker should be announcing this).  Thanks for letting me know Erin.

Atlanta is the setting for the
Moonlight and Magnolia's Conference September 28-30 presented by the Georgia Romance Writers.  This is their 25th Anniversary so if you're in the area, a Book Fair and Signing will be held on Saturday.  From what I hear, Dianna Love Snell is doing an amazing job of coordinating this event.  Happy Anniversary to you Southern Belles!

And, just because
JoAnn Ross has been such a great commenter on this blog (and she sent me the link), I'd like to present the trailer to her new book, Freefall coming out in February.  The popcorn's on me!

Bottom line:
Great...now I've got that Tom Petty song, Free Fallin' stuck in my head.  I hate it when that happens.

Barbara -- What fun to see hottie former SEAL Zach Tremayne on your blog! Thanks for posting the link to the trailer, too. I'm really pleased with the job COS did. Sorry about the song. But, hey, it could be worse. You've no idea how much email I received from people who had Blue Bayou stuck in their heads when THAT book came out. LOL

JoAnn, I *LOVE* that cover and can't wait for the book to come out. Great post, Barbara! As for reads, I'm still wading through my huge TBR stack. Right now, I'm on Bobbie Faye's Really (really, really, really) Bad Day by Toni McGee Causey. Funny book! Faye

Thanks, Faye. Having had my share of really, really, really, really bad hair days over the years (let's not get into the Farrah look) , I can so relate! Great title and I'm going to have to look that one up.

Congrats to all. 100 books is amazing and I checked out the trailer. Now how am I supposed to wait until February for the book? I've read all Karen Rose's books, so I'm looking forward to reading her latest. This week I read Up Close and Dangerous by Linda Howard. I love the suspense in her books. Another keeper. Barbara, I like getting these snippets of news. I hope you do it again.

Amanda, I sure don't want to take advantage of Barbara's blog, but since you brought up having to wait until February, subscribers to my e-newsletter receive sneak preview scenes of Freefall. (Including early back cover copy that never made it onto the book.) If you're interested, you can sign up on my site. The next one's going out around Oct 1.

I, too, love snippets of info, there's just so much out there nowadays to keep up with. Congratulations to all. JoAnn, I'm off to sign up. I swear, if I didn't get emails from authors, my mailbox would be empty (well, except for the ads for male enhancements)

I just finished reading Die For Me. Gave me the shivers! Wonderful book :)! I'm not surprised, at all, that it made the NYT list. www.sharianton.com

I'm still not very good with the computer, but I have enjoyed the trailers. I never knew they were there. JoAnn, I'll be signing up for your your newsletter as soon as my grandson shows up to help me out, but I am getting better. I'm just excited to be able to do this. I was always too nervous to try before. You're never too old to learn something new.

Better late than never! I am just catching up on reading blogs today! I was the lucky one who got to read Freefall in order to help make the trailer and I have to say it is to die for! Uh...er...not literally...the villain in it one of the creepiest in such a way that you are captivated by what he may do next. The love affair between the hero and heroine was a perfect fit. I love when an author can do that. You really can see these people evolve and fit even when you wonder how their differences could survive it. *sigh* If you've never read a JoAnn Ross book (where have you been??!!!) this is a great one to start with! I know this is going to be a favorite with her fans!!
