Fox in Socks is my favorite. My daughter used to love for me to read it -- because it inevitably tripped me up. It was like a contest to see how fast I could read it without verbally stumbling. Have a GREAT time with your grandkids. sounds like fun...well, 12-15 inches of snow doesn't sound like fun, but you know....

I never was a Dr Seuss fan. But like you said any movie is a great movie if you are with your grandkids! Have fun and enjoy!!

"Taking the grandsons" is my excuse for going to Whoville :). Sure, they can come along, but they'd better behave because I want to see this movie. It's a wonderful story, and how lovely to hear Carol Burnett doing the kangaroo! The boys will be on vacation all next week, so plenty of time to go after all of today's silly Snow Melts.

Great blog Barb!! My favorite Seuss book was one about aging & going to doctors! I'll look up the name the next time I'm over at my parents' house since I gave it to them as a joke present! Not so funny now since it's come true! But at least Dr. Seuss helps us laugh about it! Of course another good one is "And to think that I heard it on Mulberry Street" or something like that...

"One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" was the first book I ever owned, and it's still my favourite Seuss.

I need to take my kids to this. I think they will really enjoy it. Although, Cat in the Hat (the movie) freaked my son out when he was younger. This one is supposed to be more kid oriented. LOL Green Eggs and Ham is my favourite book. "Would you? Could you? In a car? Eat them, Eat them - here they are!"

"The Places You Will Go." It's the perfect graduation present. For any age. I'll be going with my grandson next Wednesday. A friend saw the movie already and raved about it. But I'm guessing you and the kids are stuck in the house instead of seeing the show. It looks bad out there.

Timely, Barbara! I think it is a few days since St. Patrick's Day. Time does fly when the tax returns are due, and the editor wants extra love scenes written. I recall Dr Seuss's Green eggs and Ham. Or was it Green Ham and Eggs? My friends on authorisland.com were swapping Green recipes on Monday. The Grinch is my favorite.

My kids grew up with Dr. Seuss. They thought Whoville was a real place and wanted to move there. Now that they're older and have kids of their own, they REALLY would rather live in Whoville.

I remember my elementary school library and all the Seuss books were on the bottom shelf so us kindergarteners could reach them easily. I started off with "The Cat in the Hat." I still have my copy of a lesser Suess called "Happy Birthday to Me!" that is a birthday ritual many (many) years later.

I loved all the Seuss books, but my sister was fixated on Horton Hatches an Egg. She loved the pictures of the huge elephant perching on a tiny egg. The rest of us, including the youngest sister who didn't even talk yet, were so sick of Horton... we wore out the library copy because Mom had to check it out so often... she finally was forced to buy a copy... and still my sister had to hear that same book every night for the next two years!

So Barbara, did you get to go anywhere yesterday? I did not try to go out and drive.

I'm with you Barb, Whoville, looks pretty good considering the 16 inches of new snow on my deck. Boy this has been a horrible winter, no new frilly dress for Easter Sunday, just sweaters and long underwear. As to Dr. S. well after years of St. Patty's Day with Green Eggs and Ham, I think that one is a favorite in this household. Enjoy your time with the wee ones.
