In Their Words
August 15, 2007
A couple of weeks ago, I told you about taking a box of books to my Weight Watchers meeting. I had received so many from the conferences that I have attended that I didn't feel I'd have time to do them justice. I asked that anyone who took a book also write a short summary of the book and how they felt about it. The only stipulation I put on the review was that the whole thing be less than 6 sentences. (Believe me, there was more than one relieved face). The books disappeared quickly and yesterday morning the reviews started to trickle in. Luckily, I brought another boxful to let the group pick through.
So here is the first of a series of book reviews by women who just want to enjoy a good book.
The Italian Prince's Pregnant Bride by Sandra Marton
Reviewed by Debra
This book puts a new twist on the phrase "foreign affairs." An erotic read about fate, love at first sight and happily ever afters. An enoyable steamy afternoon escape.
Virgin River by Robyn Carr
Reviewed by Jenny
I truly enjoyed this book! It is about an emergency room nurse from Los Angeles. After her husband dies, she moves to a small town to start a new life. There she finds more than she could have ever expected. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!
Dipped in Chocolate by Renee Luke
Reviewed by Judy
Dipped in Chocolate entwines three separate sexy, seductive and scintillating stories. Each delivers an engaging tale of people discovering their "soul mate" under unusual, yet steamy circumstances. Hot, sexy and oh, so true, Renee Luke shares the souls of her characters in their search for happiness.
Redemption by Jacquelin Thomas
Reviewed by Loretta
True to life characters play out the scenes in this deliciously warm and thoughtful story, which winds throughout the book in a most unexpected pattern of love and living. It gives a new perspective to African-American Christian values in their lives.
Great job ladies!! I will eventually get to all these books, but your insights have given others a look at what they may be missing.
Bottom line: See...Weight Watchers is about more than losing weight.
