Your Turn Friday Takes a Road Trip

May 8, 2009
I get asked all the time what my conference schedule is and where I'll be off to next.  So, I decided to post my schedule for the rest of the year and I hope to catch up with many of you along the way.  So much to talk about...so little time.  And it's also Your Turn Friday which is your opportunity to let everyone know the book you've been reading lately and would like to recommend.

6/5-7      WisRWA...Green Bay, WI

6/12-14  Historical Novel Society...Schaumburg, IL

7/8-11     Thrillerfest...New York City

7/15-18    RWA...Washington D.C.

7/23-26   Comic Con...San Diego

9/4-7       Dragon Con...Atlanta

9/17-20   Killer Con...Las Vegas

10/2-4      Moonlight and Magnolias...Atlanta

10/9-11    K-Con...New Orleans

11/8         Murder and Mayhem in Muskego...Muskego, WI

Unfortunately, some conferences overlap, so to cover those is my intrepid cub reporter and WW Ladies blurber extraordinaire, Joysann:

5/16       Neorwa....Strongville, OH

6/5-7      Lori Foster's Reader/Writer Get-Together...Cincinnati, OH

10/9-11   RomantiCon...Richfield, OH

That's what's on BHB's plate this year.  What do you have coming up?  Any conferences that I should plan for next year?  If you could go to any conference, which would it be?

Well, it's still Your Turn Friday, so please, post the book you've been reading lately.

Bottom Line:  “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” ~ St. Augustine

Here's an adorable video to entertain you this morning (thanks Joysann!)

Can I borrow your life? <G> Now, I know that it's tiring and alot of work to keep up with the many events and keep abreast of what pubs and writers in many genres are doing...but oh, my, to be able to go from reader/writer/publisher conference to conference to conference? Sounds like my idea of Heaven!

Julia, for whom RWA National never lasts long enough

I'm reading Annie Solomon's new one: One Deadly Sin. Love her writing. She creates the perfect mix of romance and suspense. See you in DC, Barbara, though I'm tempted by the Historical Novel Society conference!

Can't wait to see you in October at Moonlight and Magnolias! We're excited you are coming.

If I had my druthers, I go to RWA this year. But, I can't, so next year is my goal!

Just started JR Ward's Lover Avenged. I'm loving what I'm reading so far! Looks like another home run for her!

Chances are I'll miss you at M&M this year. A part of me isn't thrilled with the idea of waddling around a hotel at 35+ weeks pregnant. ;-)

As for what I'm reading, I'm trying to finish up Darren Shan's Cirque Du Freak (I can't recall which book in the series) so I can move on to Nancy Haddock's Last Vampire Standing by this weekend.

Yeah! I get to see you 3 more times. I can do 4 if you want to meet up for lunch or dinner Fri/Sat when in town for Thrillerfest. I just finished the latest in the House of Night series by the mother and daughter PC Cast & Kristen Cast - HUNTED.

Oh, I'm SO jealous. I love to travel, and you've got a great schedule there. You'll have a blast at DragonCon, and I'll see you in October at M&M. I'm about to start Debby Giusti's Protecting Her Child, with Geraldine Brooks' People of the Book waiting in the wings.

Barb --

The NJRW (New Jersey Romance Writers) conference in late October is always a good one -- bigger than Moonlight&Magnolias, smaller than RWA.. Lots of romance writers and authors and a big bookfair with tons of romance authors signing. Think about it!

There's lots of information about it on their website - www.njrw.org

Thank you Barbara! That Mayo Clinic video was so heartwarming--especially when they changed places to continue playing! I'll keep reading--just finished another Laura Levine comedy/murder mystery. She is so funny!
