2nd Anniversary Bash -Thriller/Suspense/Mystery/Adventure

March 10, 2009
Matthew McConaughey
Matthew McConaughey by popular demand

Well, the paranormal, Sci-Fi, fantasy, horror and urban fantasy authors really went all out yesterday garnering over 500 comments.  I'm still scraping bat dung off the walls.  But now we have the Thriller/Suspense/Mystery/Adventure  writers and let's see what their idea of a party is and how they stack up against Monday's group.

This past year my adventure that most closely identifies with this group is when I accidently walked into an Obama rally, thinking it was a Thrillerfest cocktail party and I got to also see Carolyn Kennedy.  See the video here.  Also, there was that incident in my hotel room in New York.  Watch the video here.  And I interviewed David Baldacci (ask me about the elevator incident when you see me) Watch the video here.

Here's the Anniversary Week's Schedule:

Monday, March 9th:         Paranormal/Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror/Urban Fantasy
Tuesday, March 10th:       Thriller/Suspense/Mystery/Adventure
Wednesday, March 11th:  Publishers/agents/publicist/editors/bloggers/librarians
Thursday, March 12th:     Inspirational/YA/Graphic Novels/Nonfiction
Friday, March 13th:          Contemporary/Historical/Erotica/E-books/Audio
Saturday, March 14th:       Romance Blow Out  (Costume Ball - Come dressed as your favorite character)

Now, on to the party.  To start the food portion off, Amie and David Thurlo says, "Count on us for traditional Navajo fry bread and mutton stew, steaming hot. Cooking fry bread can be tricky, though, if you don't get it just right, it'll come out as flat as a tortilla. Just in case, we'll bring chile as a side dish."  Sue McKlveen wants to bring, "The martinis…shaken, not stirred.  OH…and tons of coffee, bagels and baked goods.  Gotta have those for a good mystery or adventure."

David Boreanaz
Since we need some FBI help, Agent Booth (David Boreanaz) jumped out of the tub to assist me us.
Dessert from Maddie James,  "I'll bring some of my famous Sin-a-Mochalicious Chocolate Fudge Brownie Cupcakes".  Janis Susan May says, "Since murder is stressful, one needs lots of food. I'll bring two more of my Chocolate
Sin mousse cakes and a pan of yummy Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies."  Terry Odell says  One of my characters is a gourmet cook; I'll make sure he brings plenty of food.  He does killer triple chocolate chocolate-chip cookies.

Cheryl Holt thought, "I was going to bring baskets of oysters—the ultimate aphrodisiac—but I decided that party might get too “wild”.  Christie Craig, "I'm bringing some of those tiny little hotdogs soaked in barbeque sauce, so make sure you bring your bibs."

Chocolate Martini
For those of you who are thirsty, “I brought chocolate martinis – because what’s a party without
something sweet, alcoholic, and drenched in chocolate? " asks Gemma Halliday.

For entertainment Patricia Sargeant asks, "May I please bring the music?" Of course she doesn't really say what kind, so we can all be surprised.  WW Ladies Blurber Joyann once again is in charge of the games and today she says, "Pass the Orange - “Without the use of your hands” …   C’mon!  Everyone’s seen Charade with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. "  Libby Hellmann tells me,
"I was able to snag a special performance by Michael Jackson singing Billie Jean, one of the most popular songs from his album (what else?) Thriller!"  Clea Simon says, "I've queued the kitty chorus line and they'll begin their routine as soon as Musetta finishes her nap. I am sorry about the hairballs. Mr. Grey would keep licking at the spangles!  Allison Brennan promises, "I'll provide one dead body for the Murder Mystery Game.  It's from the morgue, I didn't kill him!"

Mick St. John
For the birthday girl, Trish...Mick St. John

Michelle Gagnon lets us know that she's "bringing along my friends Miss Scarlett, Professor Plum, and Colonel Mustard-hope that's okay.  The Colonel wants to know if you have a wrench in the Conservatory, if not he'd be happy to provide one...  "High Druid Phil insists that no party is complete without the propler retro ambiance, so here's a disco ball and wayfarer sunglasses for all partiers," offers Natale Stenzel

Hank Phillipi Ryan is putting quarters into the jukebox for some MYSTERY KARAOKE so check the comments and sing along! Will YOU be part of the lyrics? I've also got a special song for Barbara--so keep checking.

The Jungle Red Writers will start the day of "RED" culinary delights off with what else--BLOODY Mary's--though Rosemary Harris insists on calling them Bloody Rosemary's. We're trying to convince Rhys Bowen to make blood pudding, but she's refusing.  Hank Phillippi Ryan's  offering a toast to Barbara with champagne and red raspberries...here's a beautiful glass for you. (Don't leave fingerprints..

Huh! Wha ...?!? Its morning? (Crawling out from under the dessert table) Umm, Barb? Did you see my ... uh ... shoes? And maybe various other items of personal attire? I seem to be feelin' a draft - somewhere. Where'd everyone go? I was chatting with Prince whatshisname when some vampire dude wandered on over. That's pretty much the last I remember. Well, that and the vat of margheritas I seem to have consumed. Fantastic paranormal party, Barb. If the rest of the week goes anything like this, it will be a party to remember.

So My visions still a little off after yesterday's partying , and it's only day two. Maybe I'd be safer having Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies instead. So hopefully by mid-day I'll be back to my usual self and ready to sing along to Mary J and have a glass of champagne and red raspberries, well maybe more then one.

Maybe because I'm only used to seeing dames dressed like that. Or maybe because those hunky guys wore those dresses better than the dames. On closer inspection I understood why they looked so at ease. Under their cocktail dresses they wore wetsuits. Made sense. You never know when a tsunami might hit.

What would Matthew, or the man without a kilt say to you that would just melt your heart. Yeah, what is the best come-on line a man could say to you?

And hey what's the worst. I bought a magic button for Valentine's day that repeats the worse come-on lines.

One is: "Did it hurt when you fell from Heaven?"
