Just finished Susan Elizabeth Phillips 'Kiss An Angel'. I adore her books, this is one of her older ones, featuring a circus theme and a marriage of convenience. Her characterisation is incredible as always. They leap off the page and into your heart!

With all the snow this week, staying indoors and reading was easy, so I got through a couple books.

I just finished The Vampire’s Secret by Raven Hart, and it was just as good as the first book in the series, The Vampire’s Seduction, which I thought was exceptional. William Thorne is certain that an attack is imminent by the old European vampires on the "new" communities of the Americas. The attack begins, but is all the more appalling because it's in the form of biological warfare, which, impossibly, infects the undead as well as the living. With William’s old world sophistication and Jack’s confederate soldier quaintness, their father/son relationship is strained, yet they must work together to protect family and friends. I expect the next book, The Vampire’s Kiss, to be as good as the first two.

Shameless by Tori Carrington – I can’t figure out how to write this so I’m stealing right off their webpage: "Two guys, a girl...and a blindfold” Okay, so it’s a little more complicated than that, but it’s quite the sizzler and pretty entertaining. It’s the first in a mini-series called Indecent Proposals with Harlequin Extreme Blaze.

I'm rereading Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I needed a Dark-Hunter fix while I'm waiting for the Year of Acheron. Can't get enough of these guys.

Like Kristen, I was in deep edits this week, but I did have time to reread Liz Kreger's Forget About Tomorrow. I'm reviewing it on Magical Musings Sunday. My one-sentence review is that it's great!

Thanks Barb--I delight in Diane Mott Davidson's books--thanks for reminding me of that great author & her latest! I just finished Double Cross by James Patterson & then Lifeguard by him & another author. I'm also reading Sara Paretsky's latest--not her usual style but very good.

Wow, Barbara, so glad you enjoyed Rogue! I've been reading an old book, Bestseller by Olivia Goldsmith, and it's a fascinating read! I thought I knew a lot about the publishing industry, but it gives you an insight into it that is beyond anything I've had. It's a shame that she died--I always enjoy her books.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Barbara! I'm glad you enjoyed UNLAWFUL CONTACT. Right now I'm writing on deadline, working hard on UNTAMED, the sequel to SURRENDER. Almost done! But the last two books I read that rocked my world were: Allie MacKay's HIGHLANDER IN HER DREAMS, a very fun and touching time travel, and ON A HIGHLAND SHORE by Kathleen Givens, an absolutely stunning historical.

I'm going to have to pick up Pamela Clare's newest. I've always loved her writing and that "no one believes you" theme scares the pants off me every time. I'm currently reading GRIMSPACE by Ann Aguirre. It's a really intriguing sci-fi/futuristic, and I can see why the buzz has been so hot on it. It's always thrilling to see a new author create a big stir. For editing, I'm working on Leslie Langtry's STAND BY YOUR HITMAN, her next book in the Greatest Hits series about the Bombay family of assassins. I just started it this morning, and it's been such a treat. I think my coworkers are wondering about me because I keep bursting into laughter. It'll be out in September.

Almost finished with Willa Cather's "Song of the Lark" on my nightstand. In my cube at work I have "The Haunting of Josie" by Kay Hooper and a Moliere anthology, which one I pick up at lunch depends on the day I'm having!

I'll second Kristen's. I have been doing edits. But, I just emailed them to my editor. So my weekend is open. Pamela, Happy Birthday. I am married to Leap baby. We are celebrating his 9th birthday today. Big party tomorrow night.

With our daughter living in Virginia and us in the frozen tundra, we can't take a road trip to visit her without at least one of Davidson's Goldy books on cd from the library. They are great audio books too.

I'm reading AUTUMN BRIDGE by Takashi Matsuoka. I'm only about halfway through it, but it's fasinating. It's a mix of ghost story and Japanese history told from several points of view. I'm loving it. Why can't I write my own books and read someone else's at the same time? So many books, so little time. :-)

Thanks, Leah! I hope you enjoy it! During my time as I journalist, I had myself locked behind bars on bogus felony charges so that I could see what it was like. And it's scary, even when you know (as I did) that you're getting out. I'm going to be blogging about my experiences behind bars soon and how that sort of "extreme research" helped feed this novel. Thanks Amanda and Lia for the birthday wishes. Lia, a happy birthday to your DH! Enjoy the party. I wish I were 9 again! LOL!

Pneumonia from constantly changing weather has limited my writing and reading this week. I went back and pulled Deborah MacGillivray's A Restless Knight from the bookshelf for an enjoyable read. Felt like old friends visiting.

I just finished another book I liked a lot.... Blood Drive by Jeanne C Stein, The Second of The Anna Strong Chronicles

Bounty hunter Anna Strong has been a vampire for only a couple of months and is still learning about herself in this modern world. The challenge of mixing her human life with a supernatural one is presented intriguingly. I'm hooked, so the next book, The Watcher, is on my reading list.

UPS just brought Cindy Breeding's Camelot's Destiny but I don't have time to read it yet. Looks like a marvelous book, though! I'll have to get the Sabrian Jeffries book. I've enjoyed every book of hers that I've read.
