Friday the 13th and Your Turn

November 13, 2009
I'm a grown woman, but the words "Friday the 13th" still have the power to creep me out.  I'm sure the movies didn't help, even though I never saw them.  I guess I am a superstition person and I'm always glad to see Saturday the 14th come around.

I'm leaving today for Boston and the Crime Bake Conference.  Since I've never been to Boston, I'm looking forward to it.  Although, as most of you convention goers know, you usually don't get very far from the hotel.  There's always so much going on.

This week I read Street Game by Christine Feehan.  Mack McKinley heads his team of GhostWalkers and when the trail for weapons he's following leads to an old love, Mack is forced to confront his past.  Jamie feels she's left the GhostWalker life behind, but for good reasons.  Now Mack is here and so is the danger that seems to surround the GhostWalkers.

I have followed this series from the beginning and my favorite will always be the first, Shadow Game.  But Street Game brings in a whole new group with even more powers and psychic abilities.  I love the strong connections this team has since they all grew up together.  The GhostWalkers once again define loyalty, duty and passion.  What a fine cocktail that makes.

I also read the anthology Trick or Treat by N. J. Walters, Jan Springer, Charlene Teglia, Tawny Taylor.
Unmasking Kelly by N.J. Walters:  Halloween night and Kelly Allen, a waitress at the pub decides to not work and come to the party as a costumed guest in order to seduce her boss, owner Liam.

Sinderella by Jan Springer:  Ella is clumsy during the day, but in the dark of night she puts on her own production of Cinderella, the X-rated version for private parties.  Dr. Roarke Stephanson has to fill in as the Prince when a cast member doesn't show up.

Wolf in Cheap Clothing
by Charlene Teglia:  Lou is looking for the werewolf who changed her but gets caught up in the clan's hunt for the same person.  Being in a little bikini, sure brings out the wolf in the Alpha Leader.

Stolen Godess by Tawny Taylor:  When Kylie finds herself in a strange place with a hot, naked man claiming to be her husband, she not sure if she should be afraid or excited.

These stories are guaranteed to heat up the room without turning the furnace on.  Definitely a hot read for the cooling weather.  Sexy, senual and fantasies...Oh My!

Now it's Your Turn.  What have you been reading lately?  Share your books and views by leaving your comments.

Bottom Line:
Today is World Kindness Day and that is really needed on Friday the 13th.

oddly enough Friday the 13th has always been a good day for me and November the 13th is working out well so far.
Really looking forward to reading your blog on the Crime Bake Convention.
[And all I've been reading are Thanksgiving recipes!]

Hope your flight went well, Barbara! Just finished reading His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik (recommended here some months ago by Joysann --thanks! loved it!), and have Mansfield Park by Jane Austin on the iPod.

Hey Barbara
Happy Friday the 13th to you! It's always been a lucky day for me. Bad things may START to happen, but all usually turns out quite well in the end! :)

What I'm reading: Dark Legacy by Anna DeSephano (scary good). I also just finished Tempt Me at Twilight by Lisa Kleypas, and as always, I again marvel at how completely she sucks me into a story. Before I know it, two hours have past and I'm nearing the end of a book. Just engrossing. And Nalini Singh's new #8 NYTimes best seller, Blaze of Memory, (Whoot, Nalini!! WAY TO GO!!!) is next up on my TBR.

Love Friday the 13th! There's always something that makes me like the "bad" stuff. ;) Have fun at the Crime Bake Conference.

I just finished Jocelynn Drake's Dawnbreaker and I just started Sherrilyn Kenyons Born of Fire. Dawnbreaker, the third installment of the Dark Days series and another hit! Born of Fire so far is awesome and I'm only 26 pages in, no surprise there as Sherrilyn is a phenomenal writer! :)

Good morning Barbara! Thank you for the great book/author choices & for letting us know it is "World Kindness Day"--so I am glad I visited the Veterans' Home (more so today, but I am always glad I visit the veterans/families etc. there). It is a wonderful facility!
