Sunday Matinee

June 21, 2009
Yesterday I got to spend some time with my son, Andrew, and we talked for hours. Finally, he made some homemade kettle corn and we watched The Transporter. It was a silly action film, but so much fun to watch. Think Mystery Science Theater 3000 without the robots. Anyway, it's time for some serious film, so here's the Sunday Matinee for this week.

Breakpoint by JoAnn Ross

Perfect Chemistry
by Simone Elkeles

Something About Her by Jeannie Ruesch

Breathe
by Lisa T. Bergren

You Make Me Feel Like Dancing by Allison Bottke

Talking to the Dead
by Bonnie Grove

So Beautiful

Hey Barbara, Thanks so much for sharing my Breakpoint video with your blog readers for me!! Being a control freak, I usually try to send COS my own pics and I love, love, love what COS did with them this time.

(The couple at the end were originally blue and black silhouette, but Mike, the video guy, turned them into that flaming orange which I think works so well with the two people alone at the end of the world feel I wanted.)

I also did some photoshopping before I turned them over to him. For instance, the one where Dallas is skydiving used to have lots of other divers with him who were destroying the shot. So I turned them into clouds. And the green night scope shot of him in battle was actually a training mission in TX, which was so not Afghanistan, so I took out my cloning tool and turned all the buildings, trees, and fence behind the guys into black smoke. LOL

As usual a great selection of videos but I have to say the one that really caught me was Breakpoint and now seeing that its part of a series I will just HAVE to (dramatic sigh) buy all 4 and start from the beginning.

Hmmm... I liked The Transporter (the first one), but mostly because it had really great martial arts choreography. Who needs a plot when you can disarm a guy with your jacket? :)

Gina, that's so great you're interested in my High Risk books! But I can assure you that while the first three were sort of connected, with each book continuing a bit more of the battle/day that changed all the guy's lives, Breakpoint picks up afterwards, so it truly does stand on its own. It's more JAG meets NCIS. With hot sex. LOL

The trailer for Bonnie Grove's book really creeps me out. The book itself is even better - Creepy yes, but also intelligent, insightful, and ultimately uplifting. I recommend it.

I'm really excited to see the trailer here for Bonnie Grove's Talking to the Dead. It's a fascinating novel, unique, on-the-edge-of-your-seat fiction.

Barbara, love your choice of trailers, especially Talking to the Dead. The story exceeds to the trailer. What is real? What isn't? Loved it.
