This, that and the other thing 2
October 4, 2007
Before we start with high fives, I like to reach out and hug all my new friends. Yesterday was amazing. I managed to have 111 people sign up to be my friend on MySpace. Incredible. A special high five to Kristen Painter who had all her Romance Diva's come on over and with such a welcome. It truly blew me away. But thanks to all of you who took time out of your busy schedules to sign up. I'll be blogging over there too, but more personal stuff (like when my sisters were using the Lee press on nails on each other and used super glue instead of the glue provided and ended up stuck together. They then tried to hide that fact, when clearly they walked around holding hands...weirdos)
And now, it is time again to give kudos where deserved and pass along some interesting info received.
Terri Schaefer let me know that the NRCA (National Readers' Choice Awards) are now accepting author's entries and also, since these are the "Readers' Choice," the judges will all be readers. And how do you get to judge?
"A person wishing to be a reader judge must fill out our online application and submit it. We decide on a first come-first chosen process. The application becomes available online in the month of September. Please check the NRCA General Information or home page for updates during that month if you wish to be considered as a judge."
So readers, here's your chance to make a difference. Apply to be a judge.

Then a high five to Rika Singh, a web designer of Book A Design from South Africa, who won 2 Covey Awards for her cover of Eyes of the Dead by Aleka Nakis. Rika is planning on making the long trip to the United States next year to attend the Romantic Times Booklovers Convention in Pittsburgh, so when you see her, be sure to stop by and say hi. She is so friendly.
Lisa Manuel let me know about the Florida RWA Conference to be held January 2009 on a 2 night Royal Caribbean cruise. I am so there. Start saving your pennies so you can join us.
And last, but not least, a high five for Shari Anton. The long awaited third book of her trilogy, Sunset Magic is set for release August 2008. Finally, get a clue publishers, have set dates for trilogies, because I hate waiting a year or two between books. I need immediate gratification.
Bottom Line: Comedian Dane Cook has 2 million friends on MySpace. Now I only need 1,999,889 to catch up.
