Wait...what hotel am I staying at??
April 16, 2008

Author Lacey Thorn with the men of Ellora's Cave.

What other convention can you go to where your first seminar is titled "RT Virgin?"  Welcome to the Romantic Times Booklovers convention in Pittsburgh.  The RT Virgin seminar tells you what to expect, get your questions answered and meet other conventioneers that are in the same boat.   Of course, Ellora's Cave took this to a whole new level by having a Virgin Party and if you've ever read an EC book, you know virgins are scarce.

When I left home, I had everything I needed checked off my list.  Once I got to the airport, I realized that I didn't know what hotel I'd be staying at.  That's not as crazy as it sounds since all the reservations were done through RT.  But then I lucked out on the plane by meeting authors Marianne Stephens and Carol Lynne.  They knew where we should go, so I arrived safe and sound.

The hotel is under major construction.  There's dust and general mess everywhere.  Some rooms had holes in the wall where the wet bars will eventually be.  Some had beds standing up and workman still in the rooms.  Mine is perfect...as it should be.

I caught up with LuAnn McLane and  Janice Maynard who invited me to their room to watch the finale of the Biggest Loser.  I've been following all season, so I'm glad I didn't miss the final episode and my gal, Ali, won.  Take that Roger!

Patrice Michelle, Jeri Ready-Smith, Jackie Kessler and Cheyenne McCray

In the bar, I ran into some of my favorite paranormal people who were all smiles in this picture.

I've also been doing something I'm calling "Drive-by Videos."  I attack approach authors and tape a 30 second interview.  As soon as they're up and running, I'll post them.  They're fun and cute with wonderful authors.

Have you registered with Twitter yet?  I'm updating all day long via my cell phone and all you have to do is check out the Twitter site to see what I've been up to.  I'll also be passing off the phone to authors so they can "guest" twitter.   Click here for Twitter.

Also, I'm telling everyone to post their pictures on my Flickr site and I'll let you know when they start.

Bottom Line:  Favorite greeting so far:  "Are you Barbara...THE Barbara Vey?"  OMG, I've become a "THE."

Making note to myself to write down the name of the hotel before I leave to catch my plane! Yeah, I'd have been in exactly the same boat. Hope to run into you shortly!

How cool. I can tell everyone I know "The Barbara Vey." I was too busy to check out Twitter yesterday, but will go now. Glad you're having such a great time.

Well, Barbara (The), we don't have a special seminar at the RNA conference in the UK (its a much smaller conference!), but we do have a Conference Virgins scheme in which all first timers are mentored. You can't know how much I wish I was there with you all, but I'll keep up to date with your blog.

Great meeting you on the plane and talking to another RT "virgin"! Next year, we have to meet up again...and this time we won't be "virgins" but "experienced"!
