The Friends are in the House
December 12, 2007
Well, the WW ladies have the day off, but the Friends are in the house. Today we have Gail with her very first blurb...well done Gail. And to that reading maniac, Joyce, thanks for being a bookaholic and sharing.
One Bite Stand by Nina Bangs
Reviewed by Joyce
This whimsical comedy is peopled with a wide variety of supernaturals, several of whom were introduced in previous books. Though Daria is half harpy, she is afraid of failure at her job as one, for she is too pretty, too tasteful, and, worst of all, too kind. Declan is a 900 year old vampire who is too tired and jaded to care about much of anything. When it becomes necessary for them to work together to save the world, they find each other just too irresistible. Fans of cosmic trouble makers Ganymede and Sparkle Stardust are going to love this one.

Talin works for the "Shine Foundation," who mentors psychic, gifted children. Unfortunately, the children are turning up horribly mutilated and murdered. She enlists the aid of Clay, a changeling from her past to help solve the gruesome murders. Together they face dangerous adversaries and find her only remaining child before the "psys" can do major damage. This book was fast paced and riveting. I can truthfully say that once you start reading it, you'll find it impossible to put down!

Lying in Mid-Air by Anne Tourney

Everyone lies to some extent and when we want to appear to be more than we think we are. Traveling in an airplane is the perfect place to recreate oneself for the stranger sitting the next seat. Sometimes just a little and sometimes exotically. In this contemporary story, three women have different reasons to use varying degrees of deception after meeting the same attractive stranger. Their stories intertwine and the colorful characters mingle in surprising ways. Entertaining, humorous and descriptive, Lying in Mid-Air is erotic romance times 3.
You Suck – A Love Story by Christopher Moore
Reviewed by Joyce
Christopher Moore lives in a world where – well, it’s hard to say where he lives, but his San Francisco is filled with delightfully kooky, off-the-wall and very strange people, and many of them come and go throughout several of his books. You Suck continues the love story that began in Bloodsucking Fiends, and is about two young people who must learn to survive after having the misfortune (or not) of becoming vampires. Laughing out loud is symptom of reading this book, as well as others by Christopher Moore, so you may not want to read this one while out in public. Or maybe you should; your laughter just might be contagious.
Bottom Line: It's kind of disconcerting to get an email with the heading "You Suck." (Luckily, I didn't take it personally Joyce)
