Your Turn December Edition
December 7, 2007

Well, it's been a rough week, but with the weekend looming I only see blue skies and sunshine (in my mind...out my window I see snow, ice, wind and snow plows).   This week we were Enchanted, gave out some kudos, heard from the WW Ladies and friends and found out that size 2 is not fat.  So, to finish things off, here's my reads of the week.

First up is a mystery from Clea Simon, Cries and Whiskers.  Yes, a cat book, but no talking, smart alecky cat here.  This third book in the Theda Krakow series, has freelance journalist Theda following the music scene and discovering a new designer drug.  When an animal rights friend is killed by a hit and run driver, Theda finds things aren't always the way they seem and events all around her seem to be on a collision course.  Theda's love for her furry Musetta shines through, but the amateur sleuthing is all Theda.  This series is here to stay and Cries and Whiskers is a terrific read for the mystery lover in us all.

Next I picked up Patrice Michelle’s Scions: Resurrection to look closer at the cover (yeah, it needed a closer look) and then I couldn’t put it down. Finished it the same day. Patrice colors us a world with Jachin Black, a vampire who hires himself out as an assassin. It’s a dark and gloomy place for vampires (humans think they're extinct) until Jachin hears about Ariel Swanson, an author who wrote a fictional vampire story based on true events that had vampires slaughtering humans in the past.   Ariel wrote it for cathartic reasons, but Jachin reads in it the prophecy he heard from a dying man. Hoping to save his clan’s future, he kidnaps Ariel to fulfill the prophecy. This is the first book in the Scion series, but next one won’t be out soon enough for me.

So, how was your week?  Did you manage to get any reading done with the holidays fast approaching?

Bottom Line:  When you cross a cat with a vampire, do you get a furry, fanged creature with four legs and a tail or a furry, fanged creature with two legs and a ....well, not exactly a tail, but...hmmm, cue visual.

Once again, any problems posting, just send your comments to me and I'll be glad to post them for you.

Sometimes I think my cat (the real musetta!) IS a vampire, the way she likes to nip at my ankles. And I do know that ifyou cross a cat with a vampire, you'd get something very cute. THANK YOU SO MUCH BARBARA!! Happy reading, all! clea

Hi Barbara! I'm so thrilled that you couldn't put Resurrection down! *g* Thanks so much for your wonderful comments about it. Insurrection releases in May, so it won't be a super long wait. :)

Hey Barb, I hope that alpha factore played in there! There's something to be said for Alpha Furry Males. Will have to try these books on for size. And for book commentaries, I hear next week that Silken Shadows that came out on Tuesday will be one of the Rhapsody book club's top pick on romancenovel.tv! the trailer staring Mr. Romance 2007 is up on their video page now! I finished Lee Child's latest -- Bad Luck and Trouble, I think the title is -- on planes back and forth between Dallas last weekend. Have started on Nora's Blood Brothers. I have to admit to having gotten a tad burned out on vampires, but Resurrection sounds fabulous. (I LOVE both writing and reading about dark, spiritually wounded alpha males!) I'm off to Amazon now to order. Thanks for the recommendation, Barb!

And, isn't that the greatest picture of Musetta on the cover of Cries & Whiskers? I'm almost finished with Creation in Death, the latest Nora Roberts. And, can't wait to dive into T is for Trespass, Sue Grafton's new book. I've heard wonderful things about this one!

I am reading one of the most elegant and witty Regency writers going, Barbara Pierce's latest, Naughty by Nature. Delicious!! Another winner from this talented author.

Reading time has been short, so I'm making my way through anthologies. No Rest for the Witches and Moon Fever. I'm not normally a paranormal fan, but I love Lori Handeland, who has stories in both.

This week, I finished reading my very first Suzanne Enoch - Taming Rafe. Loved, loved, loved it!!!! Now I'm reading the first book from Gaelen Foley in the Spice Trilogy, Her Only Desire. I only found G. Foley this year and I couldn't get enough of G.F. in the books that make up the Knight Miscellany. Happy Reading!!!

I'm reading four books, including Meg Cabot's Size 14 is Not Fat Either and Harlequin Superromance Doctor in Her house by Amy Knupp. They're both good! Because of your enthusiasm about Enchanted, I saw it on Friday with my husband. He hated it, I loved it. lol I'm telling everyone to watch it now. When it's out on video, I want to buy it.
