Sneezy

You know how computers can get viruses?  Well, I think I got one from being online too much and I'm extremely cranky.  So, this will be short and sweet because I keep sneezing and my eyes are watering so I can't see the screen, but the worst is the snot dripping on the keyboard and I'm worried about getting an electrical shock (keep your Lysol handy).

First up is an email I received from Lauren Naefe of HarperCollins about Meg Cabot.  She says, "Thought you’d get a kick out of this! Click (here) to hop over to YouTube and watch! Very funny stuff ."  And she was right.  There's a total of four videos, but my favorite is called Tabloids.  Now I've read The Boy Next Door and saw the movie The Princess Diaries, but I didn't realize how hilarious Meg was in person.  So, a big BHB high five to Meg!

The next bit of news comes from a
Maddie James bulletin on MySpace:  "Those of you who writer romance, or books with romantic elements, may be interested in this new networking association.  United Romance Writers Association (URWA).

The United Romance Writers Association is a forum for authors to critique, workshop, discuss and share info about the Romance industry. This forum is a private member group FREE to all Romance authors published and unpublished.  Authors of all genres are welcome, too – we don’t exclude anyone. We can learn from each other.
We make no distinction between published and unpublished authors. No levels of membership will exist.

URWA came about because of the limiting barriers thrown up from other professional writing organizations. We don’t want barriers. We want creativity and honesty, and candid discussion and contribution, to the field of romance fiction. We are small and growing and may evolve as we do. We need your input, expertise and ideas.
Note: This is a promotion free forum. Advancing the craft of romance fiction is the goal, book promotion is not."

Finally,
Deborah Smith sent me this bit of information:  "I'm just updating folks on sales of my small press contemporary women's fiction novel, A Gentle Rain, which came out November 15. So far, it's reached No. 7 on Amazon.com's  Hot Bestsellers List for Women's Fiction, and remains in the list's top 50 alongside the books of brand-name authors such as Danielle Steel and Nicholas Sparks. Not bad for a novel published by a tiny small press run by four authors in Smyrna, Georgia!"  I say, not bad at all.  Kudos to you and thanks for letting me know Deborah.

That's it for today, but if you have any news, info, or want to give some kudos and high fives,
send me an email and let me know.

Bottom Line:  Now would be a good time to buy stock in Kleenex.  {sniff}

Ohhh! So sorry you're sick. Yeah, keyboard shorting out due to dripping nose would be mega bad scene. Lotsa hot tea and some chicken soup, huh? Take care of yourself!

Feel better, Barbara. I just joined URWA and I'm thrilled to have joined on the "ground floor". The group promises to be a very open and honest exchange of ideas and information related to the romance genre.

Lots of liquids, Barbara. :-) I love that URWA is a FREE source of information. So many writers cannot afford one large organization fee, let alone two (org+chapter). When we know that it is the chapter level that actually helps us the most. Who knows if the next Nora or Sherrilyn is out there and just doesn't have the means to participate. It's sad and dare I say it... cliquey.

Thanks for the link to URWA! I joined. Open and honest exchange of ideas is a refreshing concept not necessarily found in other writing organizations. Get well!

The only benefit to being sick in winter is the excuse it provides to snuggle up in fleece jammies, flannel sheets, a book and a MEDICINAL toddy (cup of tea with honey and a shot of Crown: but not if you're taking hard core cold meds, but the homeopathic kind like Zicam). Otherwise you're just considered lazy to do that, (I personally find no shame in that). So take full advantage! And be careful that snot doesn't get in your keyboard and make your keys stick, no telling WHAT all websites you might end up on!! Take care!
