Harlequin's 60th Anniversary

June 11, 2009
By now you've all heard about Harlequin celebrating it's 60th year of "pure reading pleasure."  As a kid, I remember going into the local Woolworth store and seeing the round rotating display of books that made me wish I was rich so I could buy them all.  (Ok, maybe I did spin the thing too hard a couple of times so some of the books would fly out, but that's how I picked what I would buy).

Now I hear that Harlequin planned a special Famous Firsts Collection which are the first Harlequin series books by New York Times bestselling authors of today.  I can honestly say I've never heard of any of the books, but that only means I didn't read them....yet.

I thought we'd have some fun with this and let you try to match the titles with the authors.

Debbie Macomber State Secrets
Stella Cameron Night Moves
Heather Graham Captivated
Linda Howard Bronze Mistique
Linda Lael Miller The Match Maker
Barbara Delinksi Tears of the Renegade
Carla Neggers Impetuous
Lori Foster Fit to Be Tied
Anne Stuart The Cowboy and the Lady
Jayne Ann Krentz Tangled Lies
Diana Palmer Moontide
Joan Johnson Uneasy Alliance

As a special bonus for todays readers, Harlequin has gracious offered  some lovely tote bags featuring a vintage cover and, of course, Famous First books that will be given away to anyone who posts a comment with "Harlequin Rocks!"  Winners will be picked by Harlequin and posted tomorrow.

Bottom Line: Harlequin Rocks!  (I thought if I were first, I'd win one of those amazing bags).

I am the lucky owner of one of those bags -- got it at RT at the Harlequin lunch. So no need to enter me in the drawing, but I did want to say hello. I'm a newcomer to the world of romance, having spent most of my life reading mysteries and science fiction, but now that my books are being sold as romances, I figured I ought to learn more about the genre. I recognize most of the authors, have read some of their books, but not these "firsts". Worth checking out.

I love writing for the Harlequin organization. They have sought to give romance readers exactly what they crave. No wonder they've launched so many authors who went on to be top sellers. BTW, Don's Books in Kokomo, IN is having a huge celebration for Harlequin in August, with folks like Vicki Lewis Thompson, Jade Lee, etc., in attendance (hazeltineandgraham(dot)com - click on News).

Tears of A Renegade - Linda Howard
The Cowboy and The Lady - Diana Palmer
Tangled Lies - Anne Stuart
Moontide - Stella Cameron
State Secrets - Linda Lael Miller
Fit to be Tied - Joan Johnston
