Twittering with the WW Ladies
June 18, 2008

Before we start with the WW Ladies Blurbs for the week, I want to encourage everyone to consider trying
Twitter. I've been doing it a couple of months now and I really like it. Twitter is a way of staying connected with people, one sentence at a time. You follow people and they follow you. One of my favs is a friend of my son's who is now married. He'll leave tibits about his dog, his baby and the ice cream flavor of the day. Now, I never would know what's going on with him if I waited for my son to tell me, but now I can say to Andrew, "Oh, guess what? Matt bought a Wii." (It bugs him when I know more than he does) I'm also following some of my favorite authors as they go through their writing/marketing/selling process. It's fascinating and easy. Try it...you know you want to.

The Scorpion and the Seducer by Bonnie Vanak
Read by Joyce
Despite being the adopted daughter of the Viscount Arndale and niece of the Duke of Caldwell, beautiful Jasmine Tristan will never be accepted in Britain's aristocratic society, for she is Egyptian. For his part, Lord Thomas Wallenford, the handsome heir of an earldom, has known his secret admiration for Jasmine must always be ignored, for she will not suit his duty to, and the honor of, his family. Circumstances take them to Cairo and the Valley of the Kings, and there as they face danger and threat, their passion flairs, leaving them with the greatest challenge - parting ways so Thomas can return to England to take his place as the Earl of Claradon.
The Scorpion and the Seducer is one of several books that Bonnie Vanek has placed in exotic settings between disparate characters. Historical romance readers will find the complex relationships and the trials they face enchanting stories.
Changing Times by Marilu Mann - E-Book
Read by Marge
Dr. Carly Chambers jumped at the chance to work at a hospital in New Orleans after the devastation of Katrina. Little did this tough as nails doctor know that there is more out there than meets the eye and she is about to be put right in the middle of it.
Tony Pantera, a sexy were-cat, is caught up in a war with the Turn Skins who want to reveal themselves to the world and take over by using fear. Even though haunted by his past, he can't resist the lure of the beautiful doctor that saved his life.
This fast-paced story kept me turning the pages wondering what's going to happen next. Not only did I fall in love with Carly and Tony, but also the secondary characters as well. I can't wait to read more from this author.
Bound to Love Her by Esri Rose
Read by Dina
When Erin Chandler goes for a walk with her neighbors dog in the woods, she never expects to meet an elf and a gorgeous one at that. The elf, Galen of Longtail Rock is very badly injured when Erin finds him. As she tends to him, they find that they have a special bond between them. For Galen to survive, he needs his energy from Erin,. But a dark elf named Fellseth wants to detroy them and their bond. Will he succeed?
I truly enjoyed Bound to Love Her, with it's mystical charm, humor and fantasy. As Esri wrote: "Enjoy the elfy goodness," I certainly did.
Peak Performance by Helen Brenna
Read by Emily
After being orphaned as a young age, Rachel Murphy has put her heart and soul into NASCAR racing. She has no time for any romantic entanglements, but Peyton Reese may be the one to change her mind. He has always lived by the rule of "play hard, don't get tied down." But after meeting Rachel, his rule book is thrown out the window for good.
This blurb is a shout out to Wisconsin writer Helen Brenna, whom I recently met at the WisRWA (Wisconsin Romance Writers Association) conference in Green Bay. I've never been a follower of NASCAR, but Helen made it fun to read. When I think of car racing, I picture cars going in circles for hours on end, but I never think about the logistics, and the science behind it all. I thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining book, and won't be afraid to try new subject matter in the future.
Black Magic Woman by Justin Gustainis
Read by Joyce
Black Magic Woman begins a series about Quincey Morris, Supernatural Investigator. In this first book, Morris is hired by a family whose home appears to be haunted. Morris determines, however, that the progressively more dangerous occurrences are curses and spells, and his investigation leads him to Salem Massachusetts and back more than 200 years.
I could hardly put this book down, and now I have these little subliminal thoughts that I need to continue and am surprised to remember there is not yet anything to continue with, and won't be till January (heavy sigh). Right from the start, the action was hopping, the tension was high, and the scary parts were scary! I don't know that I'd call this horror because it's not morbid and grim. Justin Gustainis' book is more urban fantasy mystery thriller-ish, and there are lots of little surprises (that I refuse to spoil) that make Black Magic Woman enjoyable.
The Mercenary by Cherry Adair
Read by Ann
Victoria Jones enjoys the safety of her bookkeeping world. Until her twin brother Alex goes missing and she must enlist the help of this best friend Marc Savin. Suddenly Tory's world is turned upside down. Will she survive getting her brother home safely? Will she survive Marc?
Cherry Adair's first book in the T-FLAC series, The Mercenary, is a sexy thriller. As usual, I didn't read the series in order but it doesn't matter. You don't want to miss of minute of the action and heat generated by Adair's T-FLAC team.
Bottom Line: Definition of twitter: to talk lightly and rapidly, esp. of trivial matters; chatter. Sounds like what I do best.
