Grandparent's Day
September 7, 2008
Today is Grandparent's Day. Yes, I realize it is a Hallmark holiday, but I love the idea of honoring grandparents. Unfortunately, both sets of my parents have been gone for some time, but I'm a grandparent and I'm all about a party.
Too bad for me, my grandchildren live in St. Louis, so I won't be able to celebrate with them, but I'm thrilled to join in the hoopla surrounding my mom. She has 22 grandkids, 19 great-grandkids and another one on the way. Most of us will converge on my sister's house early Sunday morning for food, fun and family. She always likes a theme, so we all had to take a poster board and decorate it with grandparent pictures.

Because I'm the oldest, I think I have the most/best/oldest pictures. Son, Andrew, helped going through the pictures and mostly saying, "Who's that?" and "Look how weird Keith looks." (Keith is his older brother and was into the Miami Vice look at one time). After Andrew left, I spent hours purusing the boxes of pictures I have amassed over the year. Several smiles and not a few tears later, I decided it was time to part with some of them. After all, it's only me now and who knows what my sons will do with them.
I've decided to take them all to the party tomorrow and let everyone take what they want. It may mean more to them and I'll know they are going to a good home.
Bottom Line: I plan on taking a lot more pictures again tomorrow...the circle of life...Kodak style.
