Sounds like you had a great conference! Tess Gerritsen is fabulous. She manages to weave a great romance into her books while keeping the suspense high. One of my favorite authors.
Barbara -- Lucky You! I've heard that Love is Murder is a dynamite conference. You get to go all the best places! Tess Gerritsen is such a talent. And I enjoyed getting to know Honoria Finkelstein and Susan Smily at Murder in the Grove last year. Those two are hilarious!
Thanks for the photos and the great time at dinner. LIM is one of my favorite conferences. I grew up reading mysteries and have such fun meeting long-time favorite authors and brand new ones as well. That panel on Cupid's Call was lots of fun, too.
Thank you for posting the picture and mentioning the Cupid's Call Panel. LIM is an intimate conference, yet packed with punch...
Thanks for the great pictures and discussion here. I'm so glad you enjoyed the Cupid's Call panel and the rest of the conference. I look forward to seeing you there again in the future!
Coming out of my writer's cave to say I'm so glad you made it there and back safely! I thought about you over the weekend -- even during the Superbowl, which shows how I fret about people I care about! Sounds like a fabulous conference.
Ann of the dragon pin belongs to my online writers' group and is a fabulous person. I like her -- and her books -- bunches! And, of course, Tess always has something fascinating to say! And you know, she's right about romance being hard. I'm working on a Christmas novella right now and although it's book #101 (or #102, depending on which of the two I'm working on I finish first) I'd forgotten how tricky it is to craft a compelling story when you can't put in killers and have your characters running for their lives, LOL
What fun! Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Barbara, It was so nice to meet you at Love is Murder. I've been to every one of them so far and have watched them grow. Each is better than the one before. Hanley Kanar and her band of volunteers put together such a great conference that even a snow storm would not keep people from coming! I also had the pleasure of meeting Tess Gerritsen who sat beside me at one of the booksignings. While I signed my second book, Girl of My Dreams, people came up to her getting autographs for her countless books. With all the books she's had published, she still managed to be charming and delightful and not at all pretentious, just like you'd hope someone successful would be. Of course, later on after my booksigning stint was over, I took the opportunity to buy one of her books so she could personally autograph it. It was a conference to remember! Morgan Mandel
Barb, I've had so much fun reading about your adventures in Chicago this past weekend!!! Thank you for making me feel as if I was there!!!
Barbara, it sounds like so much fun! And yep, just the thing for winter doldrums. You need to hurry on down to Atlanta. We're in the low 70's today -- that'll cure your frostbite. ;)
Sounds like it was a fun conference, Barb. I'll definitely have to see if I can catch it next year.
Thanks for your kind words re Love Is Murder. Speaking for the entire Board, we're happy to hear you enjoyed the conference, and we hope you'll return in 2009 for an even bigger and better LIMcon!
It was a grand time. It's great to watch the guest authors interact with their readers. And I must admit, I was in heaven during the Single Malt Scotch Tasting Event. Learned a lot and kept myself toasty even though Chicago was a bit chilly. Like Jennifer (above) said, it's 70's here in Atlanta. Ah... warm feet. What a blessing.
Sounds like a great conference. I saw Tess Gerritsen speak at a conference last year, and really enjoyed her talk.
Hey, Barbara Thanks for creating a stir in the hallways by whispering the words, "Publisher's Weekly." All of the authors suddenly looked like excited meerkats.
LOL at the meerkats image! I wasn't even there and can picture it!
